Debra Shelswell

Debra is a self-taught mixed media artist who loves to experiment with texture.  Intuitively guided, she designs unique abstract work using a diverse combination of materials.  “I enjoy creating pieces that invite the viewer into the work through touch.  The mixtures of various media generate unique tactile sensations – like pliable leather yielding to unforgiving stone or metal.”  Some wall pieces can be rotated and displayed as the viewer is so inclined, and it is intriguing to see how this changes the energy and visual interpretation.

As well as her mixed media work, Debra gets a kick out of making funky garden sculpture and stained glass designs.
